What Are the Three Passes Trek in Nepal? Here’s My Story

Number of Days:

The whole trek usually takes about 18 to 21 days. I walked through famous places like Namche Bazaar, Gokyo, and Everest Base Camp. According to the Nepal Tourism Board (2024), only about 8% of all trekkers in the Everest region do the full Three Passes Trek. That made me feel even more proud of my choice.

What I liked most was how every day felt different. Some days I saw blue lakes like Gokyo, and other days I walked on glaciers and snowy trails. I met kind people in tea houses, shared stories with other trekkers, and watched the sunrise over Mount Everest. I felt tired many times, but I also felt happy and strong.

Difficulty:

The high passes were the hardest part. I had to walk slowly and take deep breaths. I drank lots of water and rested often to avoid altitude sickness. Many people get sick above 4,000 meters, so going slowly helped a lot. A report from the Himalayan Rescue Association says almost 50% of trekkers in the Everest region face some altitude problems. I was lucky. I stayed healthy the whole way.

Conclusion:

The Everest Three Pass Trek is not easy. But if you love big views, quiet trails, and want a real adventure, it is worth it. I learned so much about myself. I pushed through cold mornings, steep climbs, and long days. In return, I got to see the true heart of the Himalayas.

This trek is more than just a walk. It is a journey full of beauty, challenge, and joy. If you ever want to see what the mountains can really offer, the Three Passes Trek in Nepal is waiting for you.
