就高雄來說，我認為打狗領事館是個必去的景點，因為在這除了看古蹟、眺望海洋也可好好來杯個英式下午茶。台灣的第一個正式的英國領事館其實是就是在高雄，雖然前面有台南＆淡水，但是最後還是遷到當時的 "打狗" (高雄), 成為正式的據點。其實就 "英國領事館"來說，無論是在高雄的這個，或是淡水的、廈門的等等，其實都有一些滿獨特的氛圍和環境，高高... 在一好風景的山丘上，可以看到四面八方的環景。

hands to hands throughout history, it also fell into ruins for some time during the world war era. The buildings (the Consulate itself and the residence on the hill) were restored and converted into a popular tourist attraction where you could have a walk through the history of the harbour city (as Kaohsiung is called), take in superb view of the surrounding, shop for some souvenir, or have a nice English High Tea in the heritage building!



 
我們從停車場總一連串的階梯到了打狗英國領事館的後門入口，因為天氣超好，整個就是曬！門口外有間廟，廟口前還有這個求籤的機器！
There was a temple outside of the main entrance into the British Consulate area.

打狗英國領事館是台灣第一個正式的英國領事館，主要是拓展經濟＆貿易＆也有海關。這棟經典的紅磚建築就是當時的領事館官邸。當初這建築設計是由英國人設計，工匠是中國大陸來的，紅磚則是從廈門運來的。
The building of the former residence for the officer at the British Consulate. It was a place for them to hold banquets and greet important guests. The building was designed by the Brtis, built by Chinese. The red bricks were shipped from Xiamen, China.

 

這官邸原本是領事居住＆接待賓客的場所，在台灣被割讓給日本後一度被日本接手作為"高雄海洋觀測所"，後來在世界二戰初期成為氣象局測候所。不過後來就荒廢了直到 2004 年才又被整修＆古蹟規劃再利用。
現在官邸本身部分已成為紀念品店和喝下午茶的地方。
The builting was completed in 1879. It was first used by the Brits. Then during the Japanese occupation era, it was used by the Japanese as an observatory. It fell to ruins for some time and was again restored in 2004 and converted into what it is now.

 

在這裡從早上就可在這裡的 "古典玫瑰園“開始享用英式下午茶。而且這邊的下午茶有冰茶，我們好像是點經典水果茶冰茶！看起來很像 Martini 之類的清新吧！
You could enjoy English High Tea here. The iced fruit tea was very nice for a steamy summer.



我們點了領事夫人的下午茶套餐。Apprently 是由英國下午茶親善大使 (有這種大使喔.. 第一次聽到)  Mrs. Anne Scagell 設計。上中下層的內容物 （甜點、scone & 三明治等鹹點) 其實還勾起在英國的回憶... lol

甜點的部分也是有些小創意，而且無論是甜的或鹹的其實也都還滿不錯。

官邸中現在的展覽 - 世紀之眼: 高雄港十公記憶。藉由文物、老地圖＆照片來敘述高雄港 (打狗港)的發展歷史與過程。
The exhibition space documenting the history of Kaohsiung as an important harbour from the 19th century up to until now.
 

連接英國領事館山丘上的官邸和哨船頭海港的古道建於清光緒 5 年 (1879年), 雖然路程不是很長，但是還算有些陡。
Going from the residence to the Consulate building requires taking an old path (flight of stairs) that was a bit steep.

 

步道中途休息的地方有個雕像，郇和(史溫侯，Robert Swinhoe，1836-1877)不僅是台灣的首任英國領事，他還是個生物學家，在這邊採集樣本，還將台灣獼猴的標本送到大英博物館，發現這些柴山的獼猴是台灣特有種。

 

領事館一樓的蠟像展示 1868 年英國署理領事和清廷派來處理自 1858 年天津條約後的許多在台中西人衝突的問題，這歷史性的交涉結果沒結論，後續演變成安平砲擊事件。

 

來這感受"領事館前的街景"。
